If you ever make a pot roast dont ever throw away the leftovers! Freeze it! It will come in handy. Here I am, 1:25 am reheating my leftover roast from 8/31/14. I have a long night of work ahead of me so I have to fill my belly.
When freezing them add EVERYTHING. Juice, carrots, potatoes. Whatever you cook with the roast dump in the freezer bag. Try to cover the meat with the juices so it does not dry out. I had a tiny piece sticking out of the frozen broth and it was dry, but it doesnt change anything.
Tip: When using freezer bags.. To get the air out use a straw! Get most of the air out, seal it up, and leave it open just a tad on the end of the seal to slide a straw in. Suck the air through the straw, quickly seal bag.
When you are ready to eat your leftover roast, run the bag with the roast still inside under warm water to losen it up. Dont fully melt it. Its easier to dump in a pot or crockpot when its still froze together.
Dump your leftovers in a pot or crockpot. Let it melt apart, heat a while and serve.
They taste as good as they did when you made it the first time.
